DID YOU KNOW?

You should wash your car more often during the winter!

While you might think of car washes primarily as a summertime activity, you should really be washing your car in the winter as well, and in fact, even more frequently than you do in the summer.

There, we’ve said it. And not just because we’re a car wash here at Rogue Wave Auto Wash and truly appreciate your business, but rather, to bring to your attention that it’s for the benefit and longevity of your vehicle. We care about you and your car!

Sometimes it's evident when you need to wash your car. When you see bird droppings, tree sap, pollen, dirt, and your car actually looks grimy when the sun is hitting it, it can be obvious you need to run through the wash. But in the winter with snowy, icy roads and the resulting salt, ice-melting chemicals (road brine), dirt and sand, it may be a tad less obvious, but even more important to wash your car.

When you’re driving the treated roads in the winter, that salt and slush and ice kicks up into your wheel wells and gets lodged in your undercarriage. Over time, this can build up and be highly damaging to your car, as salt is corrosive and causes rust. Rusty metal is more than just unsightly - it can be a safety hazard. If not removed, salt can quickly eat through the structural foundation of a vehicle. This can cost you, not just financially.

Getting your vehicle washed and rinsed regularly knocks off that corrosive build-up and helps inhibit rust and corrosion. Adding a layer of wax each visit can help to build up some armor against the harshness of the season. Additionally, getting the salt and chemicals out of your tire tread can help extend the grip, wear and lifespan of your tires.

How often should you wash your car? Generally, every two weeks at a minimum. Once every week to ten days during snowy, icy weather, ie. winter. The takeaway is, getting your car washed regularly is best.

The good news is, when you’re considering whether you want to stop at the car wash during those cold winter days, bear in mind… You don’t even have to get out of your vehicle! Stop in at a drive through first and grab yourself a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, then just sit back, sippin’ and relaxing while you go through Rogue Wave Auto Wash, enjoying your favorite music or podcast, and most importantly, your heated seats. Both you and your car will feel better for it! Oh, and we DO appreciate your business, very much! :)
